How am I insured? Since January 1st, 1996, unemployed people are insured against accidents by the Suva. On the benefit of the unemployed, the unemployment fund will directly dedicate the accidents’ insurance premium to the Suva fund. The insurance cover expires 30th day after the unemployed person stopped being entitled to the unemployment benefit. What do I have to do? The Suva cover can be extended by special convention beyond the end of the compulsory insurance for no more than six consecutive months (insurance by convention). The premium of has to be paid at the latest on the 30th day following the expiry of the to the compulsory insurance. After that, you cannot be covered by any insurance offered by the Suva. Eventual accidents must then be declared to the health insurance, which will usually pay care expenses only. |
