Reductions for large insurance deductible

Since 2001 more than ever, it is important to analyze and compare the premiums offered by various insurance companies.

Reductions granted by insurers will have to be equal or lower than the contribution to the additional costs paid by policy-holders who choose a customized insurance deductible. These reductions can vary according to cantons.

They will have to modify the way they calculate reductions granted on customized insurance deductible.

 If you choose an insurance deductible higher than SFrs. 300.- a year (SFrs. 0.-  for children), you will be saving as long as the insurance company grants the reductions planned by the LAMal (Swiss health insurance Act), which is unfortunately far from happening all the time:
  

But be careful !...

  • By choosing a higher insurance deductible, you must be able to pay it cash when required. You must therefore own this amount at any time.

  • By choosing a customized insurance deductible, you will only be able to cancel your contract (or to change for a lower deductible) at the end of the year.
