How can I calculate my 2nd category benefits ?

The federal contingency funding Act (LPP) only sets minimal requirements.
Each pension fund can plan contingency funds beyond this minimum,
and many pension funds in Switzerland do so.

Speaking of financing, the law requires that each pension fund regulates its contributions system so that the benefits can be paid as soon as needed. Therefore, the general rules stated in this Act can only be fully applied for the minimal part of the insurance.

LPP contributions (employer share and employee share) are varying. There are three parts:

  • retirement contributions;
  • death or disability contributions (contributions for risks), fees included. These contributions are non-refundable;
  • social contributions, non-refundable as well.

Age the policy-holder reaches during the year of calculation.

 

Risks contributions.

Insurance services in case of disability or death. They are calculated according to statistics, taking account of the insurance capital saved by the policy-holder and of the probability of disability and death according to age and sex.

 

Social contributions.

Social contributions are also stated in the LPP. They are contributions for special situations (1 % of the coordinated wages, mainly used to improve the situation for the coming generation), for a guarantee fund (currently 0,1 % of the coordinated wages) and to adapt  the pension benefits to the consumer prices level.
